Paris Fashion Week Comes To An End: Elie Saab Collection

What better way to end Paris Fashion Week than with one of my absolute favorite designers, Elie Saab! There is just something about the simplicity of his designs that makes the collection so elegant. The beading in the fabrics of the evening gowns is just jaw dropping.

The lengthy models walked down a sleek black runway as the song “I Love You” by Woodkid played to begin the show. The set up of this show and the intensity from the models left the audience in complete awe. While other designers make their collections to be a bit over-the-top at times, Elie Saab knows how to make everything look absolutely perfect. There are so many “little details” in each gown that he doesn’t need to do anything else to make them stand out. There has never been a time where I have thought that he was trying too hard. He never ceases to amaze us.

Elie Saab Fun Fact: He became an overnight success after Halle Berry announced that she was wearing his design at the 74th Academy Awards.

Feel like watching yesterday’s show of Elie Saab’s Fall 2013 collection? Watch it here!

Christian Louboutin Mentors Parisian School

5 February, 2013 All, Fashion, Updates No comments

According to Refinery 29,  the red sole king will in fact be mentoring in the Paris College of Arts class of 2013.  I bet many of you are raging in jealousy!

["The red-sole maestro has met with the final year students and given them a theme to inspire their work. We won’t find out what that is until May, but the college has said that he did encourage the students warmly, saying, “be true to yourself.” ]

This is an important message that Louboutin says to these students.  Simply being true to yourself will diminish any factors and break all barriers many of us face through whichever career path we’re in.  Especially in fashion, many students don’t trust their own intuition and lack self-confidence.

FASHION NEWS: H&M Showing In Paris

Looks like H&M will be featuring their very own runway show!!  This exciting news just hit web and fashionistas already are raving about the details!

According to WWD, the runway show will be hosted in the Musee Rodin February 27, 2013. Where – Paris fashion week!  With an 8 year span since H&M’s last runway show all eyes will be glued to see what the Swed fast fashion juggernauts present.

[A rep for H&M, told WWD, "We felt excited about the collection and we really wanted to show it." Another spokesperson explained to Fashionista, "In the past we have done fantastic and spectacular events and fashion shows with our designer collaborations and we feel it is time to celebrate our own fashion."]

For many, the collection is a great business idea given that the Anna Dello Russo and Maison Martin Margiela collections failed to sell.  H&M is determined to start focusing on just H&M, the company, the brand.  Why not?  This will be revolutionary for fast-fashion retailers and Paris Fashion week.  It’ll also be an exciting stepping stone  in fashion that will entertain and give the retailer the ‘High Fashion’ credibility they’ve attempted to attain with their collaborations .  Move over Topman, looks like H&M is coming for you!

Honoring Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton

Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton get honored by the…

In honor of the 15 years that Marc Jacobs has headed the 143 year-old brand Louis Vuitton the Musée des Arts Décoratifs at the Louvre is honoring both Jacobs and founder Vuitton with a comprehensive exhibition exploring the brands influence and innovations throughout the years. While the Louvre’s curator Pamela Golbin is quick to point out that the exhibit is not a retrospective, it is definitely on ANNEX’s travel wish list. Holding its position from April all the way to September the exhibition is a definite must see. Though if you can’t get to Pari´ in time, you can grab a copy of the published edition of the exhibit here. After a grand showing by Vuitton during paris fashion week the star and fashionlebrity studded launch event for the Vuitton Jacobs exhibit got of to roaring start, with such attendees as ADR (Anna Dello Russo), Sarah Jessica Parker, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Karl Lagerfeld the night looked like it was a smashing success.

Within Marc Jacobs iconic 15 years with the luxury brand he has definitely blazed a trail of fashion excellency and will forever be remembered within the fashion industry as one of its leading men. Taking Fashionlebrity to a whole new level, while in his hay day being hailed as the superman of fashion at the helm of both his namesake brand and that of the over 100 year old luxury juggernaut Louis Vuitton propelling both to house-hold-names. While their is no debating that Marc has definitely propelled Vuitton into in somewhat a league all of its own.

While here at ANNEX there’s a hung jury on the overall direction that Jacobs has taken Vuitton seeing as if we were back in 1997 and were appointed the Art Director of a brand with such unlimited resources as Vuitton we would have definitely established a more apparent aesthetic and iconic imaging for the brand creating a more distinctively recognizable foundation. While as not to discredit Jacobs, for the progress in which the brand has seen over the past 20 or so years is definitely a feat in it’s self. Congratulations to both Marc and the entire Vuitton team, well deserved.
