The most exciting time for fashion is fall. It is a time where everyone revamps their wardrobe and reaches for levels of innovation not yet met. From couture designers trying to impress the ‘seen it all’ bloggers and fashion icons, to high school survivors trying to upgrade their closets from the year before, Teen Vogue takes advantage of this opportunity to share a snippet of their top trend forecasts for the fall season.
On August 10th, Nordstrom hosted an event at The Grove in Los Angeles, with Teen Vogue who partnered with Collection B Jackets. Four looks were based on the “Street Smart” trend and the other four were named “Little Darlings.” Freelance editor Michelle Meyer hosted the show and walked the audience through the magic that was happening in the mind of Teen Vogue forecasters.
Street Smarts denote that an individual is knowledgeable on how to handle oneself in the world. Dressing the part is not any different. The looks were edgy, grungy and rough around the edges. As I modeled for the event, my outfit started with sweet gray, ombre-printed leggings with a white sweater and a gray leather Collection B Jacket. The look was pulled together nicely and surely sparked an interest in a few girls in the audience to find an outfit inspired by mine.
“Little Darlings” was a trend that showcased a more lady-like look in relation to “Street Smart.” Behind the hard exterior some girls can build up, there is a soft and feminine aesthetic to us when we open up to you. My second look was all about the layers. Black leggings, a printed floral dress, cropped sweater and a red Collection B Jacket. It was girly enough to make the boys wink, but the red leather jacket said, “You can look, but you definitely can’t touch.”
The day was filled with raffle winners having the opportunity to be styled by Meyer, a special guest performance by the new upcoming boy band, After Romeo, and a stylist workshop hosted by blogger Mod Fox. Stepping outside of Nordstrom, consumers and fans had a great time in the grass receiving free mani’s, ice cream and a makeup makeover. The day was definitely packed with fun and excitement. Teen Vogue hopes that you are more than excited to start the school year and are able to open your closet on the first day of school and say, “I have so much to wear!”
