H&M To Team Up With Isabel Marant

Ladies and gents, hold on to your Marant Booties, because the French designer is coming to an H&M near you! Yep, you heard it right, Isabel Marant will be featured as H&M’s latest -and possibly most celebrated- collaborator, according to vogue.com. The collection will consist of clothing and accessories for women, as well as Isabel’s first attempt at men’s and childrenswear-arriving in 250 stores worldwide on November 14th. As if the fashion deities have heard all of my prayers, the collection will be sold online as well (hash tag; nextlev).

Ms. Marant states, ” I am flattered by this collaboration: H&M works with the best designers and this invitation is an exciting honour,” Marant said this morning. “I aim to create something real, that women want to wear in their everyday lives, with a certain carelessness, which I think is very Parisian: you dress up, but do not pay too much attention and still look sexy. The collection is infused with this kind of easiness and attitude. Everything can be mixed following one’s own instincts: my take on fashion is all about personality.”

H&M’s coveted collaborations have sold out almost immediately in the past with luxury labels and brands such as Karl Lagerfeld, Marni, Lanvin, and Versace. We can’t wait to see what  industry favorite, Isabel Marant has in store for us! One thing I know for sure is that French girls never looked so chic. Thoughts?

H&M’s ‘Healthy Models’ Campaign

As one of the most prominent fast fashion retailers in the world, H&Mmanages to consistently stay on our “nice” lists! After promising to ensure safer work conditions in Bangladesh, the company’s most recent campaign includes a pledge to feature more healthier models.

H&M CEO Karl-Johan Persson told Metro, ”I believe that the models in our advertising should look sound and healthy. There are models who are too thin or obviously underweight, but there are also those who’re just thin, and they’re the ones we should keep working with, as long as they look sound and healthy.”
With Beyoncé’s “no photoshop” rule, she made sure it was enforced for her summer swimsuit editorials for the brand.

“We want to show diversity in our advertising and not give people the impression that girls have to look a particular way. By and large, I think we’ve succeeded: we’ve many different kinds of models from different ethnic backgrounds. In our last campaign we had a somewhat more buxom model, and now we’re using Beyoncé, who’s a bit curvier as well.”

Kudos to H&M for healthier ads and models!

H&M Partners with Olympians & David Beckham

H&M is the world’s second largest retailer for apparel, just behind Zara, but H&M might just swipe that number one spot after their next maneuver. The fashion firm will be partnering with the Swedish Olympic team in the upcoming 2014 Winter games and the 2016 Summer games, where the team will be clothed in H&M sportswear for the opening and closing ceremonies. Not only will H&M provide clothing for the ceremonies, but also for the athletes training and down time.

After the Summer 2012 Olympics in London, the world saw the U.S. strut their stuff in their Ralph Lauren gear, and I’m sure Ralph Lauren sales hit the roof after that type of publicity. H&M is planning on expanding their sports collection, and there is no better way to do that than teaming up with Olympians. Billions of people in 200 different countries tune in to the Olympics, and is known to be the biggest sporting event in history, so everyone’s eyes will be on H&M clothing once Sweden takes their walk with the torch.

And that’s not all H&M has up their sleeves, they will also be partnering with British Soccer player, and model phenomenon, David Beckham, for and underwear collection.  I won’t be surprised if H&M takes the number one spot on the largest apparel retailers list after these two endeavors

Beyoncé’s H&M Bikini Bod

Just as Beyoncé heads out for her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour today in Serbia, H&M‘s newest campaign featuring the Bey, has us feeling summer again! The 31-year old mom shows off her stunning belly-pierced bikini bod along with gorgeous Bahama scenes. “What makes these [H&M] pieces even more special is that Beyoncé herself had input into the design, and they are full of her own personal style,” said Ann-Sofie Johansson (head of design at H&M).

The pieces will be available at H&M this coming May so don’t miss out on your chance for some Bey approved apparel!

Coachella Inspires the Fashion Industry

Music festivals such as Coachella have inspired retail stores for years. Specifically, stores like Forever 21, H&M, and American Eagle. These stores will always give you a lot of bang for your buck, so if you will be attending Coachella this weekend, and still have yet to find your perfect outfits, the stores listed above are some great ones to check out. Coachella has even inspired higher end stores such as Lacoste and Guess who are planning on launching new lines focused more towards the music festival loving crowd.  Linda Chang, the marketing director at Forever 21 says “Music festivals have influenced the fashion industry by reinventing popular styles of past decades of music and pop culture.”

Jen Foyle, chief of merchandising for Aerie says “Music festivals are just one of those moments when people can showcase true individual style.” Coachella gives people a sense of freedom which is why people are dressed in more relaxed clothing, but that is still very stylish, just their own type of style. It’s a weekend where different types of people come together to celebrate and enjoy their love for music and art. The environment given is what makes the festival enjoyable to so many people, and the fact that nobody is there to judge what another is wearing is why we are able to see so many different styles. Nobody is afraid of what anyone will think.

Fashion Blogger, Aimee Song, posted a picture on Instagram of what she wore at last years Coachella to give a little Coachella inspiration to her followers.

Beyoncé’s H&M Summer Campaign

This summer, expect to see a whole lot of Beyoncé for H&M—I’m talking print ads, commercials, billboards, and even some Beyoncé x H&M pieces, which have been described by head designer Ann-Sofie as, “full of her own personal style.” This can only mean ultra sexy looks centered purely on the woman… cause who runs the world? Girls.

According to WWD, the summer collection will include “the perfect body-con dress,” long summer dresses with thigh high slits, high-waist shorts, and sleeveless shirts. And if the shots taken by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin are any indication of Beyoncé’s clothing collaboration, H&M will be sun hot all season long.

In full support of “The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour,” the print ads will be reading “Beyoncé as Mrs. Carter in H&M,” and the commercial, which was shot by Jonas Åkerlund, will be featuring her latest song “Standing on the Sun.” This pretty much solidifies Beyoncé as the Queen Bee of H&M, which will kick off in stores and online in May.

Are you excited for this Beyoncé x H&M collaberation?

H&M Paris Fashion Week Debut

Last night, Swedish fast fashion house H&M successfully threw their first wildly anticipated Paris Fashion Week debut! Their debut was all the buzz this morning as H&M had star studded models walking down the catwalk and the likes of Ashley Olsen, Anna Dello Russo, Emma Roberts, Emmanuelle Alt, and Hamish Bowles that lit the “front row”. For the show, H&M had built a 70′s inspired house outside the famous Rodin Museum filled with small rooms where the guests were seated on beds, couches, and dining tables. Each room had different themes, including a Moroccan room, a little boys’ room, a library, and a dining room setting.

During the show, major model-of-the-moment models like Cara Delevingne, Frida Gustuvsson, Joan Smalls, and Arizona Muse walked through the different rooms in trendy shearling vests and oversized mohair sweaters. Afterwards, the entire space opened up for the after party with servers dressed like french maids with platters of hors d’oeuvres.

South Korean Designer Wins H&M Award

Fast-Fashion giant, H&M  recently honored designer, Minju Kim with the International H&M Design Award. Nineteen fashion colleges in eight European countries participated in the competition.

The 26 year old student, Minju Kim, was just finishing up her studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwarp, Belgium where she’s recently showcased her collection for Stockholm’s Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week.

About choosing Kim as the winner: [H&M’s head of design Ann-Sofie Johansson, who headed the competition jury, said Kim stood out in a tough field thanks to highly imaginative pieces that were beautifully executed. “For me, it was a ‘wow’ feeling to see the collection. It’s so creative and it’s very playful, and there are millions of ideas in each piece,” she said.]

H&M will develop pieces from Minju Kim’s collection that will be sold in select stores this fall.  For her inspiration, Japanese horror manga artist Junji Ito which she titled “Dear my friend”.  If your wondering what was the most important process for this designer?  Drawing  was one of her biggest focus factors when designing.

[“Drawing is the most important process of my designing,” she told WWD. “When I research, I visualize how I would transform it into images and as a next step I turn the images into my own drawings, and that becomes the basis for the collection.”]

In recent collaboration stints from the Swedish retailer, sales have dropped and anticipated collections were a bust.  Now, H&M is planning to focus on just H&M so their choice for picking Kim who is more of an avante-garde designer, are obviously in efforts to expand their fashion brand and to up sales.

[“I think we want to show another side of H&M,” said Johansson. “We have our basics and we have the fashion collections, but at the same time also we have so many talented designers.."]
