Rihanna kicked off her huge 27-city Diamonds tour in Buffalo, NY, and after a brief battle with laryngitis, we are finally able to ooze over the sex-infused costumes- which did not disappoint. Stylist Mel Ottenburg, ensured that the star look no less than ultra chic while she rocks on stage in custom made couture realness. Alber Elbaz for Lanvin, Raf Simons, Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy, and Adam Selman, were some of the components that made up the envious urban-swager cocktail that Rihanna so effortlessly made cool. “The most amazing thing about Rihanna is what a chameleon she is,” said Ottenberg, whose worked with Riri for two years. “She’s always up for something new. She’s fearless, she knows what she likes, and it’s fun to see which ideas she’ll jump for.”
The Diamonds- seven costume- lineup began with a gorgeous, floor-length, black Givenchy couture cape, embroidered coats, shorts, and bra. But with a tour that’s named Diamonds, the singer gave us more than just a faint of glitter, ending with the most stunning of all; a tailor-made, shimmering Lanvin jumpsuit that had me breathless. It’s no secret that RiRi is on top of the world of music right now, and other than her amazing album ‘Unapolagetic’, the sartorially genius tour was icing on the cake.

While after a tragic and lets just say lackadaisical performance the other night on the stage of the 2012 AMA’s Christina Aguilera buried all hopes of us being enthused for her latest release ‘Lotus’. Although against our ears better judgement we picked up a copy at our nearest iTunes location, and we are so glad we did. Lotus a solid and uplifting album is one of a fighter, survivor, and brimming with life, energy, and empowerment. Hands down Annex’s favorite track on the record is that of ‘Let There Be Love’ a track we all got to preview during Xtina’s rather energy packed set on the AMA’s, a set which did nothing to highlight the utter magnitude of said track
A track that is so polarizing we are seriously wondering why it was not giving the 1st single treatment, because this as a comeback track would have been sheer genius. Don’t get us wrong we are huge fans of lead track ‘Your Body’ and Xtina’s crusade to show us and the world how truly comfortable she is in her own skin, however the truly anthemic feel of this record could have given her that ‘Firework’, ‘Diamonds’, ‘Irreplaceable’, or even dare I say it ‘Beautiful’ moment which would have laid way for ‘Your Body’ to fare much better on the charts.
Here’s to hoping that now ‘Love’ has been given the green light as ‘Lotus’ 2nd single she capture some of the glory from chart dominators such as Rihanna who’s earlier mentioned ‘Diamonds’ has just reached the top of the charts lending Ms. Fenty her 12th chart topper and mostly her 1st number 1 album.
Rihanna releases the official video for her new single “Diamonds” off of her upcoming album “Unapologetic” due to release Nov. 19th. This is definitely one of the more cinematic video’s I’ve seen from Rihanna lately and I’m excited to see the direction she chooses for her album as a whole!
Rihanna just moments ago followed suite of fellow pop tart Christina Aguilera and released her new album title and cover via microblogging social networking platform twitter in which she has an astounding 26 million followers….
Check out the cover below…
Rihanna’s 7th studio album “Unapologetic” drops worldwide November 19th and includes current #16 single “Diamonds”
We have to say we were already in LOVE with Rih’s new Toni Braxton Cira 1993 hairdo (See Toni Braxton “you mean the world to me” video) but this cover is by far her most artistically driven and self expressed release to date (especially after the disappointing “Diamonds” single cover) and second to her red locks its her best look (however we’re quite biased seeing as we’re suckers for a redhead)…
Great Job Team Rihanna!… looking forward to the heat you’re going to serve this time around…
