17th Annual E.D.C. 2013 SOLD OUT
This year, Insomniac Events will host their 17th annual Electrical Daisy Carnival in Sin City, Las Vegas. This is one of the most talked about events of the Summer, and it’s officially SOLD OUT! Although the event took place in Los Angeles three years ago, for 13 years, I think the switch to Vegas has made EDC gain popularity. This years EDC, which had the quickest sell-out ever, will reign Vegas the weekend of June 21st-23rd. The line up includes music from Kaskade, Afrojack, Calvin Harris, Dirty South, Krewella, Kastle, and so many more. For the entire line up, CLICK HERE!
The Insomniac website shares many details of this exciting weekend to get the party go-ers ready: “Insomniac will transform the Las Vegas Motor Speedway into a completely interactive carnival experience for the 17th Annual Electric Daisy Carnival, featuring more than 150 electronic dance music artists, 500 theatrical performers including fire twirlers, aerialists, dancers, and stilt walkers. The 1,000-acre complex will become a fully immersive audiovisual experience with dynamic large-scale art installations creating interactive environments amidst the seven stages, along with state-of-the-art lighting and sound production, numerous full size amusement rides and attractions, and a pyrotechnics display nightly.”
This is a weekend that so many people look forward to, and is something that we will be hearing about weeks before it struts and weeks after it ends.
WALLPAPER. RELEASES NEW SINGLE “GOOD 4 IT” TODAY
WALLPAPER. TO RELEASE NEW SINGLE “GOOD 4 IT” ON ITUNES TODAY
TRACK IS THEME SONG TO NEW VH1 SHOW WICKED SINGLE AND IS FEATURED THROUGHOUT ESPN’S CURRENT PROGRAMMING
WALLPAPER. BRINGS HIS PARTY POP TO SXSW
March 12, 2013 — New York, NY — Genre-defying pop band Wallpaper. releases a new single, “Good 4 It,” on iTunes today. The track, which is currently being spun at Alternative radio, is the theme song to VH1’s new show Wicked Single (premiering simultaneously on MTV and VH1 March 17th) and can also be heard in ESPN’s promotional bumpers and teasers for its current programming. With its mix of swagger and vulnerability, “Good 4 It” invokes the essential function of friendship in times of real trauma. A video for the track will be released in early April. Watch the lyric video here.
Wallpaper. is the brainchild of Oakland-based rapper/songwriter Ricky Reed, who played house parties in the Bay Area while honing his songwriting skills before launching Wallpaper. with Arjun Singh, Tom Peyton, Derek Taylor, and vocalist Novena Carmel (daughter of soul-R&B legend Sly Stone). “Wallpaper. represents the eccentric everyman,” Reed says. “A blue-collar pop band for the other 99%, a twerking class hero who might actually show up at your house party — that is Wallpaper.”
Reed’s dry-humored raps and hard-hitting beats began attracting major buzz in 2011 with Wallpaper.’s breakout EP #STUPiDFACEDD — a joint effort between MTV’s Hype Music and Evan Bogart’s Boardwalk Records, leading to syncs on Jersey Shore and The Real World, hundreds of thousands of downloads at MTV’s soundtrack blog, and an “Artist To Watch” designation by the network. Reed also co-wrote and produced “Anyway” with Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo for Cee Lo Green’s platinum album The Lady Killer. His remix of Das Racist’s “Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell” led to his deal with Boardwalk Records.
In 2012, Wallpaper. signed to Epic Records to bring Reed’s absurdist world-view to a broader audience. In the last year, Wallpaper. has performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live!and Last Call With Carson Daly, been nominated for a “Breaking Woodie” at the Woodie Awards, and performed a well-received set at Coachella. Nylon remarked last summer: “Wallpaper. is a bonafide hustler and gifted producer, expertly blurring glittery pop and raunchy rap with authentic rock and electric funk.”
Wallpaper. will bring their party-starting live show to this year’s SXSW Festival in Austin next week, and will also join the Vans Warped Tour line-up this summer when their debut album for Epic Records/Boardwalk Music Group will be released. See below for Wallpaper.’s shows at SXSW:

CIARA TURNS UP THE HEAT WITH ‘BODY PARTY’
CIARA TURNS UP THE HEAT WITH ‘BODY PARTY’
“Count this one as another triumph” (Pitchfork)
NEW ALBUM, ONE WOMAN ARMY, SET FOR JUNE 4th RELEASE
“A more intimate portrait of her life and loves” (Essence)
(March 12, 2013 – New York, NY) – With the release of her new single, “Body Party,” Ciara is turning up the heat in anticipation of her upcoming June 4th release of One Woman Army. Produced by Mike WiLL Made-It, and co-written by her label mate, Future, “Body Party,” which is available on iTunes, is a simmering jam that celebrates the pleasures of a new relationship at its most intimate. AOL called it “suitable for baby making,” but “Body Party” is about more than sex — it’s about Ciara’s strength and independence as a woman.
Ciara was equally revealing and vulnerable in ‘’Sorry,” the first song released from One Woman Army, when she wrote about the disappointment of a failed relationship. With “Body Party,” she has written about the fearlessness of new journey leading her down the path of intimacy. “One Woman Army represents the acceptance of my emotional vulnerability when it comes to love,” Ciara said, and whether she’s writing about heartbreak or ecstasy, she’s boldly and honestly expressing her truth.
Fans can catch Ciara in a reoccurring role on BET’s THE GAME, which returns for sixth season on Tuesday, March 26th with a special one hour-long premiere from 10-11 p.m. ET/PT.
One Woman Army is Ciara’s fifth album, and it showcases Ciara’s commanding skill as a songwriter and vocalist. Changing her label home to reunite with her earliest mentor, L.A. Reid, at Epic Records, One Woman Army is a heavily anticipated album. Ciara may be a one woman army, but she’s got an army of fans, and they’re ready and waiting.
Ciara has been in the spotlight since her 2004 breakthrough album, Goodies. With eight top ten singles on Billboard’s Hot 100, and more than seven million albums sold, Ciara’s had tremendous commercial success, but she’s also been acknowledged for her artistry. She’s won a Grammy, three BET Awards, and three MTV Awards. Additionally, in 2008 Ciara was named Billboard’s Woman Of The Year.

New Miley, New Music
It has been confirmed by Miley herself that her album is complete, now all we need is the release date! Other than the fact that her album will drop sometime this year, that is the only information that is out, no release date has been revealed.
Miley has just recently signed with RCA after parting ways from Hollywood Records in 2010, and she is very excited to show everyone the real her. When signed with Hollywood Records, she was never given the chance to record her music how she wanted, or even the actual genre of music that she liked. She felt like they were holding her back because everything she did had to be approved by Disney, or had to be “Hannah Montana” related. Now she is a free bird able to do whatever her heart desires, and she is not holding back. After cutting her hair and being on the cover of a sexy Cosmo Magazine issue, who knows what this woman will do next. That’s right, woman. Our little Miley is a woman. Yes, we all loved the innocent little Miley that we once knew, but this new Miley is not afraid to be herself, and we cannot wait to see what she has in store for us. There is no doubt that she has us all on the edge of our seats.
“The genre is something that I think is something really new and something that hasn’t really been done right now. It’s a mixture of just what I’ve just grown up doing and the way that my vocal style is anyways which is a little bit of like a twang on top of hip hop beats. It’s been really fun just creating this new style [with] all the people that inspire me and making a hybrid of all my favorite styles, not really sticking to one genre, we’re not really sure what the single’s gonna be yet.”
PETA says Kanye and Kim will be “Bad Parents”
Kanye and Kim, who last we checked were not wearing much of anything at all, are being criticized by PETA for their endorsement of fur. The organization, who seems to be targeting hip hop power couples after going after Jay-Z and Beyonce for their custom-made kicks just last week. According to PETA, not only is Kimye’s fur accessorizing morally wrong, it will also make them unsuitable parents.
“Youngsters naturally identify and empathize with animals – so even though Kim and Kanye will undoubtedly serve as poor examples when it comes to kindness toward animals, perhaps their child will take after aunt Khloe and choose kindness by rejecting fur.” said PETA spokesperson Wendy Wenger.
Wenger also attacked Kim’s celebrity socialite lifestyle.“Kim is a commodity; she is paid to wear things like fur, a particular makeup, or to shake hands with questionable people, so she is not a good example to a child or anyone else of how to show a social conscience.”
Does PETA have a case against Kim and Ye? Or are they blowing things out or proportion?

#OBSESSED: Demi Lovato & Her New Single
Anyone else as #OBSESSED with Demi’s newest single, “Heart Attack” as #TeamAnnex is? This girl quickly made her way to the #1 spot on the iTunes charts the day her single débuted on the 25th of February (Go girl.) Since the day Demi showed off her vocals on “Camp Rock,” it was pretty evident that she had a bit of an edge to her. She’s not holding anything back now. A few days before dropping her single, Demi described her new look for the music video as “Rocker-chic and sophisticated.” So you, Dem.
By the looks of Demi’s twitter page, can you tell how stoked she was?
With lyrics like “Cause I don’t wanna fall in love. If I ever did that, I think I’d have a heart attack,” it sounds like this Damsel loves her distress.

Lady Starlight Gets Passionate and Says an Empathetic Hell No
Recognized as the driving force behind one of the most iconic and influential individuals in the world of Lady Gaga, Lady Starlight is multi-talented; a rock’n roll and metal DJ, go-go dancer, performer, style icon, and writer.
Annex: You are notorious for your incredible music collection, was this nurtured at a
young age?
Lady Starlight: Absolutely. My parents had a huge record collection. It was the main feature of
our living room growing up. The fact that so much space was dedicated to
records subconsciously told me that music was incredibly important
We’ve done our research and found that Rant N Rave with the Stray Cat’s
was the first record you purchased that sent you back in time, what would you
say have been some of the most impacting music influences?
The Monkees, REM, Subhumans, Elvis Costello, Crass, Man is the Bastard/
Bastard Noise, Judas Priest, Rush, Iron Maiden, Van der Graaf Generator/Peter
Hammill, Roxy Music/Eno, The Sweet, Bowie and Bolan…whoa! Sorry that was a
lot!
Initially launching your career your motive was to get your audience to HATE
YOU, clearly that didn’t work. Now your sets are political in the sense that your
sole purpose isn’t to strictly entertain but to perplex the spectators, what fosters
this ‘unique’ approach?
It may seem counterintuitive but it actually comes from a deep need to help
people. I want my performance to set an example to the audience that they can
defy the expectations of what is possible when it comes to performance and self
expression. My brother, Jason Martin is an amazing multimedia artist who always
took the most extreme risks in his work and pushed a lot of buttons. I had him to
look up to and credit him with my sense of creative freedom (and in turn, I was
this person to Lady GaGa). I hope to be that person to someone in the audience
who doesn’t have the support in their environment
You’ve worked with talents like Lady Gaga and Judas Priest, what would be
the ultimate collaboration?
A big influence is a band out of San Francisco, Man is the Bastard. They had an
incredibly unique sound that combined downtempo hardcore with experimental
noise/soundscapes. The key members went on to form Bastard Noise, which is
the main inspiration for the synth based noise soundscapes I’m performing on the
current Gaga tour. So, I want to work with them!!!
You have a strong underground presence do you desire to become more mainstream?
Absolutely. But only if you define mainstream as being able to reach more people with your work and message. If you mean mainstream as conforming to fit into what’s currently popular in our culture, I say an empathetic Hell NO.
Your persona exudes a fashion sense that doesn’t follow current trends but rather offers the more daring alternative and cutting edge, who or what takes you to that place of individuality?
It’s all about music. Every style I’ve ever worn is always a way to express the music I’m passionate about at the time. I live the music everyday.
Your style is iconic, can you sum it up in three words?
Emotional. Researched. Real.
