FIRST EVER Giorgio Armani Café

What do I love almost as much as I love fashion? Fancy little Café’s, of course! I have always been obsessed with Café’s, and the fact that Giorgio Armani is opening its very own Café has made my entire life. Now, let’s not confuse this one with the “Emporio Armani Caffe,” because the two can easily be mixed up. The Café opening tomorrow in Cannes, Croisette, will serve a variety of Armani branded food and drinks. The menu will include things such as, Armani/Dolci chocolate, tea, and sparkling water.

Just next door will be a small Giorgio Armani boutique for those interested in shopping, after enjoying a nice lunch at the fancy little Café. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to hop on a plane to Cannes, Croisette just to eat at this Café.

Condé Nast Fashion Library

Beginning June 15th, Condé Nast will be opening their very own version of a library for the Edinburgh Art Festival. This event will be called “Coming into Fashion: A Century Of Photography at Condé Nast.” Visitors will have the chance to view 100 year old iconic fashion photos, as well as an inside look into the Condé Nast archives.  This sounds like Heaven for Fashionistas!

Exhibition curator, Nathalie Herschdorfer shared, “Mr. Condé Nast understood that a powerful cover would bring him more readers. The first Vogue covers are works of art. In the early twenties, he realized what the photographic medium could bring to his magazines. He was a man of his time and was looking ahead. He wanted to work with people who were talented artists and not necessarily good patricians. The vision of the photographer was recognized as a value, then the photographer was asked to adapt it to the magazine’s needs.”  It is truly amazing to see how far the magazine has come through the years. There is so much history behind each photo that will be previewed during this event, and it is quite an opportunity to be given the chance to see all that Condé Nast has accomplished.

Vogue Magazine Awarded ‘Best Fashion Magazine’ At The ASME’s

The American Society of Magazine Editors come together once a year to award some of the worlds most celebrated magazines. Conde Nast received 27 nominations, and one of the magazines they nurture just so happened to win one of the most exciting awards. That is correct, fashionistas, Vogue Magazine currently holds the title as the Best Fashion Magazine. Anna Wintour, the Editor in Chief of American Vogue won an award, herself, and her part of her speech gave everyone a little piece of inspiration to go home with. “To those of you who might go home empty-handed tonight, let me give you a word of advice: Just hang in there for 25 years as we’ve done, and you might get lucky.”

Conde Nast says it better than anyone else: “Vogue is the fashion authority. Setting the standard for over 100 years has made Vogue the best selling fashion magazine in the world. Each issue delivers the latest in beauty, style, health, fitness and celebrities and your subscription will include the must-have Spring and Fall Fashion editions. Before it’s in fashion, it’s in Vogue!”

Paulo Succar

From a young age, Paulo Succar always knew his heart was in fashion. Having frequented the Metropolitan Opera House in NY with his grandfather as a child, his passion was nurtured by the colorful and dramatic costumes on stage. He was further inspired by a variety of media and pop culture sources, both obscure and mainstream, also having the memories of his grandfather’s suits and grandmother’s accessories inspire him to this day.

Paulo took the first steps to pursuing his dream of becoming a fashion designer at Pratt Institute, New York, where he studied graphic illustration. He later went on to study marketing in fashion at IED in Barcelona, Spain, and is now currently focusing on design at ITESO in Guadalajara, Mexico, all while creating these eye catching garments for his collections.

Debuting his men’s spring/summer 2013 collection “ Obscure Biology”, Paulo experiments with the balance between the macabre and the natural, taking inspiration from gothic symbolism and contrasting images of skulls and crosses with flora and astronomical illustrations.

Pulling upon his Lebanese heritage and international sensibilities, Paulo strives to capture masculinity without compromising style and originality. He has dedicated his life to creating groundbreaking menswear with reverence to its origins, and his work displays the uninhibited imagination of a true artist, a rare designer that is only just beginning to emerge.

H&M Partners with Olympians & David Beckham

H&M is the world’s second largest retailer for apparel, just behind Zara, but H&M might just swipe that number one spot after their next maneuver. The fashion firm will be partnering with the Swedish Olympic team in the upcoming 2014 Winter games and the 2016 Summer games, where the team will be clothed in H&M sportswear for the opening and closing ceremonies. Not only will H&M provide clothing for the ceremonies, but also for the athletes training and down time.

After the Summer 2012 Olympics in London, the world saw the U.S. strut their stuff in their Ralph Lauren gear, and I’m sure Ralph Lauren sales hit the roof after that type of publicity. H&M is planning on expanding their sports collection, and there is no better way to do that than teaming up with Olympians. Billions of people in 200 different countries tune in to the Olympics, and is known to be the biggest sporting event in history, so everyone’s eyes will be on H&M clothing once Sweden takes their walk with the torch.

And that’s not all H&M has up their sleeves, they will also be partnering with British Soccer player, and model phenomenon, David Beckham, for and underwear collection.  I won’t be surprised if H&M takes the number one spot on the largest apparel retailers list after these two endeavors

First Annual African Fashion Week

August 15, 2013 will mark the first annual of African Fashion Week, ever! This event will be held in Toronto and is for all upcoming and existing designers that have African culture inspired designs. Those who have come up with the idea of African Fashion Week, Toronto explain, “AFWT is designed to attract, entertain, and educate an audience on everything African. It will define style, class, music, and arts, along with our mission to merge the prestigious fashion industry with some of the top elite designers influenced by the African culture and the community.”

The list of designers to show at the event has not yet been released, but will very soon! Not only will the event hold runway shows, but also student design competitions, workshops, seminars, meet-n-greets, and more. With their mission to promote diversity in fashion, it is sure to be a great weekend. The fashion world invites diversity on every level, and I can’t wait to see what is brought to the runway in the years to come after AFWT struts their stuff.

Coachella Inspires the Fashion Industry

Music festivals such as Coachella have inspired retail stores for years. Specifically, stores like Forever 21, H&M, and American Eagle. These stores will always give you a lot of bang for your buck, so if you will be attending Coachella this weekend, and still have yet to find your perfect outfits, the stores listed above are some great ones to check out. Coachella has even inspired higher end stores such as Lacoste and Guess who are planning on launching new lines focused more towards the music festival loving crowd.  Linda Chang, the marketing director at Forever 21 says “Music festivals have influenced the fashion industry by reinventing popular styles of past decades of music and pop culture.”

Jen Foyle, chief of merchandising for Aerie says “Music festivals are just one of those moments when people can showcase true individual style.” Coachella gives people a sense of freedom which is why people are dressed in more relaxed clothing, but that is still very stylish, just their own type of style. It’s a weekend where different types of people come together to celebrate and enjoy their love for music and art. The environment given is what makes the festival enjoyable to so many people, and the fact that nobody is there to judge what another is wearing is why we are able to see so many different styles. Nobody is afraid of what anyone will think.

Fashion Blogger, Aimee Song, posted a picture on Instagram of what she wore at last years Coachella to give a little Coachella inspiration to her followers.

Diane Kruger: The New Face of Chanel Beauty

Diane Kruger has been spotted on the runway for Marc Jacobs, Dolce and Gabbana, and Sonia Rykiel. She has also been seen on advertisements for Yves Saint Laurent, Giorgio Armani, Christian Dior, Burberry, and more. You can now find this natural beauty as the face of Chanel’s skin care line. Diane will be taking on an ambassador role where she will appear in ads for the beginning of the skin care launch. Although this is Diane’s first time time being a part of the beauty portion for Chanel, it is not her first time modeling for Chanel.

In 2007, Diane was photographed by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel’s Paris-Biarritz handbag launch.

Also, in 1996, she modeled for Chanel’s Allure Fragrance campaign

The photographs for the skin care launch have not yet been released, but will soon be launched for the public eye later this year. We can’t wait!
